Calendar and Events
HIBS operates a three semester program, with an academic year which commences in early September and ends in mid-July. The school year spans 42 weeks, with an average of 14 weeks per semester. Our teachers resume the school year a week early attending in-service training to prepare them for the new academic year. A mid-semester break of two days (Friday and Monday) is observed each semester.
Additionally, the following 12 holidays are also observed by HIBS; New Year’s Day, Independence Day on the 6th March, Easter Good Friday in April, Workers Day on the 1st May, African Union Day on the 25th May, Republic Day on the 1st July, Hilltop Founders Day on the 3rd Monday after September graduation, Farmer’s Day on the 1st Friday in December, Christmas day on the 25th December and Boxing Day on 26th December. In addition the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr is acknowledged.
